Popping my Blog Meet Cherry

One of the things I love about blogging is the feeling of camaraderie between bloggers. Although I am at heart the sort of person that is happy with my own company, I cannot deny the twinge of curious envy I felt at the many blog posts out there joyfully proclaiming that the friendships forged online carried through when meeting fellow bloggers in real life.

Dude, I wanted in.

So it was with an eager sort of nervousness that I drove up to the Sunshine Coast last weekend to meet some fellow bloggers in the flesh. And I am so glad I did!

The afternoon was organised by the calmly efficient Danielle, who bought her beautiful family along.

It was a smallish group so there was time to get to know everyone, which was fantastic because I was able to learn alot from these seasoned bloggers. I spent some time chatting with Talia who convinced me that it was OK to choose my level of anonymity - something I have been struggling with. (So hello world, my name is LISA! My children are named Teenage Daughter, The Gentleman, & Monkeyboy.)

Listening to Danielle, Melissa & Zoe talk about Twitter, facebook, & photobucket was an education in itself; & as a result of this there will soon be a few technical upgrades to this little blog. Also an upgrade to  my camera, or lack thereof! I was in complete appliance lust over Zoe & Danielle's beautiful cameras, plus I was pretty much the only non iphone owner there. Oh the shame!

Talia's husband & fellow blogger Luke had some great pointers about Google Chrome, & the lovely Suzie & her technical prowess showed me that even I should have business cards.

So the afternoon was entertaining, educational, & extremely enhanced by the beachy awesomeness of Moolooloaba's cafe strip. Thanks Danielle for organising it, you can be sure I will be at the next one.

Winning Behaviour!!

No I didn't use the baby range, I just used this image because I am in a hurry. Shut up! I'm such a winner!

In my effort to embrace The New Frugality, I am trialing a cheap new skin care range. Thanks to that, I am sporting a giant pimple on my chin as I head out the door to go to the Hello Blogger Sunshine Coast Meet. Just the thing to engender confidence in a stressful situation. Thanks for nothing, Burt & your dumb arse Bees!!

Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained - for example, Blogger can't delete your post if you don't post one in the first place. So who's the winner now, hey? hehehe.

Wish me luck!

Wait, what? Parenting Pop Quiz

Occasionally, the Gentleman likes to watch Dirty Jobs. It's a 30 minute filler before bedtime; informative, interesting; gross TV show that highlights jobs like Collecting Road Kill, Collecting Golf Balls in Alligator Infested Golf Courses; & Commercial Sewage Collection. Just the thing to delight small boys without revving them up too much.

Hell, even I find it interesting. I think my favourite is Catfish Noodler.

So tonight, I was startled out of my kids-almost-in-bed wind down by the topic Lets See What  A Horse Artificial Inseminator Does.

Holy Crap, Batman.

Why is that horse's private part pixelated out?? I want to see it!
What is he doing?
What is that thing?
Is that horse's pee in that bottle?
Now what...is that a different horse?
Is that the horse's butt? Where poo comes out?
What is he doing?
Why does he need that glove? Why does it go right up his arm??
EWWWWWWWW GRRRRROOOOOOOOOSSSSSS!!!!!!
Why did he DO that?
*Shocked silence*
Ohhhhhhh. Really?

I would like to say for the record, that I thought I handled the conversation very well considering the whole thing felt like a parenting pop quiz.

Unlike Mr BC, who sat behind me chortling like a 10 year old.
