I entered a competition via Blogs and PR before Christmas to win some kitchen appliances, explaining that my biggest kitchen disaster was once burning popcorn in the microwave, and this was embarrassing because I am actually a (self proclaimed) pretty good cook. I didn't win the competition but Kambrook liked my entry enough to send me a popcorn maker. Hmm, guess I won't be burning popcorn ever again? Thanks Kambrook!
This popcorn maker is ridiculously easy to use, and clean. Mr BC woke me from a sleep in the other day (bastard!) to ask me how to use it, as the children where demanding popcorn for breakfast. Yes, welcome to my world.
I said to Mr BC "Use the scoop to measure the popcorn, put it in the machine, put the lid back on, don't forget the scoop goes on top! Put a bowl under it to catch the popcorn, turn it on."
Mr BC came back to tell me he must have broken it, which really woke me up, but he was just saying how easy it was, surely he must have left something out. Do you like to sleep in in the holidays?
Did you turn it on??
After a few minutes, delicious, healthy, air-popped popcorn!
Now, lets make it unhealthy. I give you...
Salted Caramel Popcorn!
In a large saucepan, melt
- 1 1/4 cups of caster sugar
- 300 ml cream
- 65 g of butter
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1 pinch of cream of tartar
Boil without stirring approx 20 minutes, then stir into your popcorn.
Let it cool in the fridge for about 30 minutes, otherwise you might burn your mouth.
So yummy. What, you are more of a savory person? I give you....
Chili Parmesan Popcorn!
While the corn is becoming popcorn, put a few tablespoons of butter and a good pinch of cayenne pepper in the scoop. The heat of the machine will melt the butter. How clever is that?!
How do you like your popcorn?
xx
